So many boutique amps, everybody's looking for the Holy Grail when it comes to amps. But, if you've been around long enough we all remember the killer sounds we heard in the day from our Fender and Marshall amps we treasure so much. Something changed, why are we chasing a sound we already had. Enter the Brown Box, when I was starting to play I had a mid sixties Fender Bandmaster and a 100w plexi, they sounded great, what happened, what changed. It's the voltage coming from our wall sockets. When I was starting out we were getting around 110-115 volts all day long. Well, where I live it's changed dramatically. I constantly get 122-123 volts at my house, and it's pretty much the same wherever I play. Even modern Fenders are designed to run 117, there's a very good reason for that, that is how the engineers have designed these amps to run. If your using old Fenders or Marshalls, they really like to run around 110-115, and a Variac may help you out a bit, but the Brown Box was made to do this job much better than any voltage regulator. Listen to an old 50w plexi plugged into a Brown Box and you will not believe your ears. These amps are built to run at very specific voltages to run properly and sound the best they can. And it works, the amp runs cooler, which the tubes love, less breakdowns and blown fuses. If your like me and love your vintage, gear you must get your hands on a Brown Box, you'll thank me in the morning! Brad Whitford, Aerosmith This thing makes my Orange Tiny Terror sound amazing! The harmonic structure of each chord and note makes me play my best cause ' im inspired by the tone! It's Awesome Patrick ! I change the percentage depending on the songs. I'm finding your Brownbox absolutely helps craft the sag and the high end much to my ears content !!! Thank you very much. When you call a high-end guitar amplifier company to inquire about a product and the owner/builder answers the phone, that's a really good sign. When he takes the time to help you out and answer all your questions despite scrambling to finish up a custom amp for none other than Joe Walsh, you know you called the right guy!
Thank you Pat Geraghty!!
Check out the unique and amazing BrownBox today!!
10-4! Looking forward to it. Love my Brownbox giving me consistent tone time after time (finally!). I use it on my +/-20 vintage amps in my little 'studio'-practice building. But I'd like a Brownie for club gigs. Thank you for a great product! Don P. Tone seekers: If you don't know, now you do! This little bad boy is such a lifesaver it's unreal. Get hip! Big thanks to BrownBox for taking such good care of me and being artist friendly! Kyle Daniel.... , Pat. I love my brown box, by the way ,Bill W. The BrownBox does wonders with a MetroAmp 50watt Plexi style amp! Great tone!!! Chris Ward
The list of tone admirers due to your Brown Box continues to grow with every gig. Much love to you for that and the Cool giveaways. Duane A I have been playing at many different venues in Las Vegas over the last 40 years. In the older venues, you never know what the power isgoing to be like. Being a tone afficianad, and using 50’s and 60’s Fender tube amplifier, I never know when my tone will be just horrible. Since Patrick Geraghy came out with the Brownbox,I now know for sure my tone is going to be Perfect every time i play, Thanks Mike,M "My Brownbox is a brick. This may be the single most solid well crafted piece of gear ever. Heavy with knobs and switch gear that feel military in use. Solid firm detents. No way to knock a setting out whack. In use I've found my home voltage is a nice 118V. At work it is 122V. The amp I play most often is a 5E3 built with nearly all NOS parts and that includes a 1960 Fender output trans. I feel good knowing what is going into the amp from the wall. I don't want to stress all those great older parts. Knocked down to @115-113V the amp softens a bit. I like it. I like a soft slow amp response. The Brownbox helps me get it wherever I plug in. This a great piece of gear. Neil
Investing in a boutique amp, it only makes sense to regulate the voltage it runs on so that it always sounds like it should. Pedals are nice, but there's a lot to be said for the old school sound of a beautiful tube amp. The Brown Box gives me that pleasure wherever I'm plugged in. Justin
"When I read about the Brown Box I immediately saw the potential for improving amp performance and limiting wear. It was a good thing too, as I was just about to buy a Variac and that might have been bad! I was shocked to see that my home has 121 volts. I have used it on my 15 vintage tube amp collection with great success, and since I use 2 amps at a time I just plug it into a power strip and choose my amps. I first plugged it into a Supro Coronado (think Jimmy Page) and noticed right away that the tone was clearer. The sustain was still there but it was silkier and not as harsh and grating. The same held true for all my other amps, including my Tweed Pro, blonde Fender Concert, Ampegs, Voxs, and Gibsons. It also gives me great pleasure to know that I am not damaging these amps and that they are being played to specs. I now find little need for compressors ( not that I used them much) as I can get the jangle I need by sagging down to 103! Long live the Brown Box.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for the helpful information. I mis-read the amperage display; it really reads .5 not .05, which makes more sense. Another BrownBox benefit I discovered was a much slower warm-up time with my 1952 Champ. Everyone with an old tube amp needs a Brown Box! Hope you sell a ton of them.
